About Me Marc Graser

I’ve always believed that if you have a website, you’re a media company.

It doesn’t matter what you make, sell or serve. You have an audience. Now give them a reason to pay attention. Inform them. Educate them. Entertain them. Do it right, and you can do all three.

I’m Marc Graser, a journalist turned brand storyteller and the founder of Content Inspired. My work starts with a curiosity I’ve never quite learned to switch off. How does this work? Why is everyone suddenly talking about it? What makes this company, this place or this product different—and does anyone outside the building know?

One answer usually leads to five more questions. It’s an occupational hazard. It’s also how I find the good stuff.

I’m fascinated by the decisions behind what people make and the reasons other people care. The detail a founder almost leaves out. The local tradition a hotel overlooks. The idea that turns an unfamiliar product into something people suddenly want in their lives.

For me, it always comes back to one thing: a good story.

A story that helps someone understand, connects with something they care about and gives them a reason to act. To travel better. Try something new. Choose one brand over another. See a possibility for their own business they hadn’t considered.

My curiosity started long before it became a job. I grew up as an Army brat in Germany, went to college in Chicago and built my career across Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Honolulu. New town. New city. New neighborhood. New job. New things to cover. I’ve had to adapt, over and over again.

It certainly makes packing easy.

It also teaches you to pay attention. Every new place has something to teach you, provided you’re willing to ask questions and stick around for the answers. That’s how I’ve approached every assignment, every company and every unfamiliar room.

For 17 years at Variety and Advertising Age, I covered the business of getting people’s attention. Disney was my beat. Hollywood and Madison Avenue were my territory. I wanted to understand why one idea became a cultural obsession while another, backed by just as much money and confidence, went nowhere. Running Madison & Vine, Ad Age’s coverage of entertainment and advertising, gave me a close look at how brands tried to earn a place in people’s lives.

Eventually, curiosity became the urge to make something myself.

At Marriott International, I co-founded the Content Studio and turned Marriott Traveler into a platform that drove $20 million in bookings within three years—all through original content. I also learned what a good idea needs to survive inside a global company: a business case, a budget, allies and an impressive tolerance for calendar invitations.

My work has taken me around the world—from helping promote new hotels in London, Dubai, Miami and New York City to building buzz around events in Tokyo and telling the stories of founders and travelers in Bali, Osaka, Venice, Hong Kong, Cape Town, Grand Cayman, Montauk and Austin. In pitching and producing original projects for Hilton, Waldorf Astoria, Bentley and Hawaiian Airlines’ Hana Hou!, I’ve followed my curiosity to find what makes each brand and experience unique—and turn it into a story that makes someone want to go, explore or try something for themselves.

Today, in Honolulu, I bring that same curiosity to Hawaiʻi’s entrepreneurs. Through Mana Up and my work with local startups, I help brands grow globally through storytelling, retail, experiences and partnerships. Sometimes the strongest story is something a founder mentions almost in passing: why they chose an ingredient, revived a technique or decided the world needed what they were making.

They’ve told that story a hundred times. Their next customer hasn’t heard it once.

When you work with me, you get someone who can find that story, recognize its business potential and help bring it to life.

I know what it takes to earn an audience’s attention. I also understand the budgets, business goals, competing priorities and approvals involved in doing something useful with it. I’ve built content platforms that drive bookings, developed opportunities for sponsors and advertisers, and connected brands with partners who help them reach further.

That experience helps me see what a story could become: an original series, a reason to return to your website, a useful resource, a partnership or a new source of revenue.

I started Content Inspired because I kept finding companies with something worth sharing that their marketing hadn’t quite captured. I wanted to ask the next question, uncover what made them unique and help more people see it.

You’ve built something. I’m curious.
